Amerjit Chohan is Chief Executive of national healthcare volunteering charity Helpforce, where he has led a period of growth and transformation. During his tenure, Amerjit has strengthened the organisation’s strategic focus, enhanced its operational delivery, and significantly raised its national profile. He has positioned Helpforce as a leading voice in the role of volunteering within the health and care system, acting as a key spokesperson and influencing national policy and practice.
Under his leadership, Helpforce has played a central role in shaping and advancing neighbourhood health, demonstrating how volunteering and community-based approaches can improve outcomes, reduce pressure on the NHS, and deliver system-wide impact. He has also driven the organisation’s brand development, establishing Helpforce as the leading charity supporting volunteering in healthcare.
Prior to this, Amerjit served as Chief Executive of St George’s Hospital Charity for five years. He led the transformation of the organisation from a start-up into a thriving hospital charity.
Amerjit has a strong passion for the NHS. As part of its 70th birthday, he led a consortium of NHS charities to deliver the “Big 7Tea” campaign and was a founding member of NHS Charities Together, serving on the Board from its inception until 2024.
