Sarah qualified as a Registered Nurse from the University of Brighton in 2001 and has built a distinguished career in dermatology spanning more than two decades. Beginning with twelve years specialising in phototherapy, Sarah played a pivotal role in establishing a new phototherapy unit in Bedford, shaping service delivery and improving patient pathways during that time.
Following this, Sarah spent two years working in community dermatology in Milton Keynes before progressing to the role of Lead Nurse Prescriber at Sussex Community Dermatology Service in 2023. Alongside her clinical leadership, she has contributed extensively to national dermatology development.
From 2018 to 2023, Sarah served as a trustee of the British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG), attending World Congress of Dermatology in both Milan and Singapore. Sarah also speaks at conferences and webinars promoting Dermatology.
A committed advocate for professional growth within the specialty, Sarah authored a chapter for a dermatology nursing careers publication and has been published in multiple dermatological journals. In 2023, she was appointed Chair of the Dermatology Council for England, leading national conversations on service quality, workforce development, and clinical standards.
Academically, Sarah completed an MSc in Clinical Dermatology in 2023, including Independent Nurse Prescribing, and is currently undertaking the NHS Rosalind Franklin leadership programme to further strengthen her strategic leadership capability.
Passionate about advancing dermatology nursing, Sarah is actively involved in rebuilding the phototherapy network across England and is collaborating with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital to update and standardise national phototherapy protocols. She is dedicated to supporting the next generation of dermatology nurses and ensuring dermatology is recognised as a vital and dynamic specialty within healthcare.
